Visiting Pilots
We offer reciprocal membership to qualified pilots from other BGA clubs. It’s free for pilots whose home club does not charge a fee.
Our facilities are excellent, and our ridge, whilst not the largest in the country provides plenty of entertainment even during the winter months.
Important Information
Our airfield is within Luton CTR Class D airspace SFC – 3500ALT. No arrivals by air other than emergency
Visitors are always welcome!
Our 100 acre airfield is dominated by the Dunstable Downs and offers spectacular views across the Aylesbury Vale.
Wear warm, comfortable outdoor clothing, suitable for the time of year, including a wind/showerproof layer, as there can be lots of standing around on the exposed airfield. Bring your sunglasses, hat and suntan lotion if it is likely to be very sunny. If you are flying, don’t forget to bring sunglasses and a hat with a narrow brim (preferably not a baseball cap). For comfort we suggest women wear trousers or jeans, as you will be wearing a parachute. Once you are in the glider you are enclosed and out of the wind.
Your friends and family are always welcome as spectators. They can watch from the launch point, or from the restaurant. We’d recommend a camera and a pair of binoculars. If you bring children you need to make sure they are fully supervised, as LGC is an active airfield. We are keen to help so please do not hesitate to ask any of our staff or our members if you have any questions. Ideally stick together as a group, it is easier to manage!
The car park area is the gravel area to the left as you arrive, generally there is plenty of space. The overflow carpark is on the right at the top of the hill. There are toilet facilities in both buildings.
Please do not park on the tarmac ‘apron’ in front of the hangers. It is important to report to reception, or a club member, on arrival. We are an active airfield and it is important that you remain on the tarmac area, or at the seating on the ‘picnic area’ by the apron until you are guided by our staff or a member. Please do not enter any of the hangars or workshops.
